Alongside my work as a counsellor and psychotherapist I also offer life coaching sessions to those who are looking for a more time-limited and goal oriented approach to dealing with certain issues.
When working as a life coach I draw upon a combination of knowledge and experience, including training I undertook with the Coaching Academy UK, and a range of relevant counselling and psychotherapeutic tools such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques and exercises, Brief Therapy and Transactional Analysis (TA).
Coaching is more practical and goal oriented than counselling or psychotherapy. As such, it is best suited to people who have something tangible they want to achieve, but are struggling to do it on their own or don't know how to go about it. You don't necessarily need to have a set goal in mind, but usually you will have one area of your life that you want to work on or address.
Also, while there are some psychological elements to coaching - such as identifying and addressing the limiting beliefs that may be getting in the way of achieving your goals - it involves far less of a journey of self-exploration than counselling or psychotherapy and some people prefer this.
As a coach I have worked successfully with clients on a range of issues including:
How it Works
Coaching sessions can be conducted in person or over the phone. As with counselling and psychotherapy, sessions are normally at the same day and time each week and last for 50 minutes. I see clients in person at my Oxford Circus or Mayfair practices in Central London, W1, but I also conduct coaching sessions over the phone or via Skype.
In the first session we would begin by discussing what you want to explore or focus upon and together we would develop goals that feel actionable and achievable for you. The work would then involve us determining what steps need to be taken to achieve your objectives, and in so doing we would develop incremental or step-goals which would be worked on from one week to the next, both inside and outside of the sessions.
Hopefully this provides you with a general idea of the services I offer as a coach and how I might be able to help you. However, if you are unsure whether coaching or counselling and psychotherapy is more suited to you and the current issues you are facing, please just give me a call on 07721872160 or drop me an email with any questions you might have.
