  • Experience

In addition to working in private practice, in the past I have worked as a counsellor at Wandsworth Association of Psychotherapists, a private therapy service in South London where I saw clients for longer term therapy dealing with issues such as depression, anxiety, addictions, illness, career crisis and relationship issues.

I have also been a counsellor at The Mapesbury Clinic in Queens Park, North-West London, a specialist charitable counselling service offering counselling to refugees and asylum seekers. Here I worked with clients dealing with trauma, PTSD, high levels of anxiety, clinical depression, cultural issues and issues relating to relocation, amongst others.

    Issues I Have Worked With

I have worked with clients on a wide range of issues including the following:

  • Depression - see a recent article I wrote on coping with depression here.
  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Relationship problems- see an article I wrote about these issues here.
  • Family problems
  • Separation
  • Loss and bereavement
  • Addictive behaviour
  • Abuse
  • Traumatic experiences and memories
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Body image issues
  • Eating disorders
  • Low self esteem or confidence
  • Lack of motivation or direction
  • General sense of dissatisfaction or emptiness
  • Illness
  • Seasonal affective disorder (SAD)
  • Work related problems
  • Career change

These are just some of the many and varied issues I have successfully worked on with clients.

In addition, I have a particular interest in working with the various transitions that we experience in life, both planned and unplanned. For instance, finishing university and finding a job, getting pregnant/becoming a mother, changing career, relocating, dealing with and making sense of relationships ending, growing older, and many more... Major changes in life can be challenging and have a significant impact (both positive and negative) and I am interested in supporting my clients and helping them to navigate their way through these, whatever they may be.
